Jack Hook Memorial Scholarship
Jack W. Hook was a dedicated adjunct professor in the Administration of Justice program at Palomar College, where he taught for nearly two decades and left a lasting impression on countless students. His classroom was enriched by an extraordinary depth of real-world experience, including service as a police officer with both the Imperial Beach and Chula Vista Police Departments, followed by more than 20 years as a Criminal Investigator with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. He continued his federal service with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Inspector General’s Office and as an intelligence analyst with the U.S. Department of Justice, bringing a rare breadth of expertise in law enforcement, investigations, and public safety to his teaching.
What truly set Jack apart, however, was not just his impressive career but his deep love for his students. He was passionate about sharing his knowledge, mentoring future professionals, and helping students see their own potential. His classes were known for being engaging, insightful, and grounded in real-life application, and students consistently admired him for his approachability, encouragement, and respect. To many, he was more than a professor; he was a trusted mentor and role model whose influence extended far beyond the classroom, inspiring students to pursue meaningful careers and make a difference in their communities.
